A call Sunday about a suspicious pedestrian in New Hyde Park led to the man's arrest on burglary charges, Nassau County police said Tuesday.

Officers who responded noticed that the pedestrian walking on Jericho Turnpike, Dinesh Singh, 31, also fit the description of a burglar who stole jewelry on July 24 from two New Hyde Park homes, one on North Seventh Street and the other on Lowell Avenue, police said. The jewelry has not been recovered, police said.

Details about why a caller reported the pedestrian as a suspicious male were not immediately available, a police spokeswoman said.

Singh, of 104 Hillside Blvd. in New Hyde Park, was arraigned Monday on two counts of second-degree burglary. He was held pending a $12,000 bail.
