Drug-sniffing dogs in Long Island schools found dime bags of marijuana, heroin needles, a 4-foot bong and trace amounts of heroin and cocaine last school year, according to school officials and the two companies that do the bulk of the searches.

In some cases, the dogs found actual drugs, but in other cases they picked up on a residual scent, meaning drugs might have been there.
