An Oyster Bay man died yesterday morning when his vehicle went out of control on the Northern State Parkway in Plainview, striking another vehicle, the center median and a tree, State Police said.

Nicholas Maniscalco, 27, who was driving a Mazda eastbound near Sunnyside Boulevard when he hit the other vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Mercury, sustained minor injuries, police said.

The crash occurred at 8:58 a.m. just east of Exit 38, Sunnyside Boulevard, and closed the parkway for about four hours between Exit 37A, the connector to the Long Island Expressway, and Exit 39, police said.

The accident remains under investigation, and any witnesses are asked to contact State Police at 631-756-3300. All calls will remain confidential.
