Nassau County police reopened a portion of the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway near Westfield Sunrise Mall in East Massapequa Wednesday afternoon that had been shut down as they investigated an accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, a police spokeswoman said.

Few details had been released about the incident, but the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, east of Unqua Road and the railroad trestle, were reopened around 6:30 p.m.
