$7 (($8 beginning July 1), $4 older than 65, younger than 12 and for members of the military. Must wear flat shoes; minimum height is 42 inches. Museum is free.

Description:

Part of the Fire Island National Seashore. Display covers history of Fire Island Lighthouse and U.S. Lifesaving Service (pre-Coast Guard). Long Island's tallest lighthouse has 182 winding steps. Special summer programs to be announced. Special programs year-round.

Hours:

9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. daily April-June; 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. daily July 1-Labor Day, (Sat. in July open until 8 p.m.); 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. daily Labor Day-Nov. 5 ; 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Nov. 6.-Dec. 15; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays Dec. 16-March; noon-4 p.m. weekends and holidays mid-Dec.-March.

Parking:

$10 a car daily May 27-Sept. 10; $8 a car weekends and holidays Apr. 1-May 21 and Sept. 16-Nov. 12.
