Authorities have identified the man found dead in a pool at an East Meadow home Tuesday as Gelber Orozco-Velasquez, 26, of Hempstead.
Orozco-Velasquez's death did not appear to be criminal in nature, police at the scene at the time.
Police said he was found motionless in the pool Tuesday afternoon. Officers were notified shortly after 2:15 p.m., and he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Orozco-Velasquez drowned in the pool, which slopes to an 8-foot depth, and how that happened was unclear, Richard Langone, an attorney for the homeowner, said at the time.
His client was at work at the time, Langone said, and had asked a friend to pull up a rug. The friend then brought along Orozco-Velasquez, who decided to go into the pool. It was unclear if he experienced a medical problem, Langone said then.
