The Glen Cove City Council unanimously has approved several fee increases.

“There have been no changes for about 15 years,” Mayor Reginald Spinello said before the vote.

The increases will net Glen Cove roughly $8,000 more a year, according to city estimates. They will go into effect Monday, city spokeswoman Lisa Travatello said.

Among the increases are to $300 from $250 for an annual taxi license and to $75 from $50 for each additional cab. A replacement license will cost $5, up from $1.

The price to file an accident report in person will be $15, up from $10, and the price to do so by mail will increase to $20 from $15.

An auctioneer license will cost $150, up from $100, and a peddling/soliciting license, for ice-cream trucks and similar operations, will cost $75 per person, up from $50. A vehicle used in peddling or soliciting will cost $100 to license, up from $75.

The city also will increase towing operators’ license fees. The cost of a tow car owner’s license, which includes a license for one vehicle, will rise to $300 from $250. The price to license additional vehicles will go to $150 from $100.

Spinello withdrew a proposal that had been on the council agenda to raise the maximum rates that private towing companies could charge for services, so officials could compare those rates with other municipalities on Long Island.
