A kayaker was pulled from the water in Little Swift Creek and treated for hypothermia on Friday night after his boat capsized, Nassau County police said.

Police said they received a 911 call from East Rockaway that a kayak had flipped and a man was in the water. A Fourth Precinct officer responded to the area at 7:15 p.m., and a man there took the officer to the kayaker’s location in his boat from Saltaire Marina.

The officer and the man then pulled the 27-year-old kayaker out of the water, police said, and began treating him for hypothermia. The man was taken to the Marine Bureau Base at Bay Park and authorities continued to treat his hypothermia until his vital signs returned to normal.

He then refused additional medical treatment.
