Road lane closures were scheduled to begin Monday night on the Northern State Parkway in the Jericho area, at Brush Hollow Road in Westbury and on Route 25A in Manhasset due to road repairs and an electric pole relocation, respectively, officials said.
A single lane closure of the Northern State Parkway near Route 106/107 in Jericho and at Brush Hollow Road in Westbury was to begin Monday night, according to the state Department of Transportation.
A single eastbound lane will be closed each night between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, at both the Jericho and Westbury locations.
Once eastbound work is completed, a single westbound lane will be closed at Routes 106/107 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. The lane closures on the parkway are expected to last about a month, weather permitting, officials said.
Transportation department officials said the nighttime lane closures are needed to extend the entrance ramps from Brush Hollow Road and Routes 106/107 to the eastbound Northern State Parkway and from Routes 106/107 to the westbound Northern State Parkway.
"Motorists are being warned in advance of the closings via electronic road signs, but should plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid delays," transportation officials said in a news release.
The locations are among the 19 areas selected for the state transportation department's $4 million motorist improvement project, officials said. Once the concrete barrier is positioned, additional lane closures won't be required.
PSEG Long Island also will conduct nighttime work, on the southwest corner of Route 25A, which is Northern Boulevard, and Searingtown Road in Manhasset beginning Monday night.
"We're relocating a guy wire out of the way of the new pedestrian walkway" at the Americana Manhasset shopping center, said Elizabeth Flagler, spokeswoman for PSEG Long Island.
Planned lane closures include:
March 31-April 4, April 7-10, April 14-17, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.: One eastbound lane on Route 25A and one southbound lane on Searingtown Road.
April 6 and 13, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.: One eastbound lane on Route 25A/Northern Boulevard and two southbound lanes on Searingtown Road.
