LI uninsured may be more than numbers show

Long Islanders younger than 65 who don't have health insurance comprised nearly 15 percent of the population, slightly below the state average of 15.7 percent, according to estimates of 2006 data the U.S. Census Bureau released Monday.
But one local hospital official said while the 2006 data are likely "fair numbers," they don't reflect the impact of job losses in the past year.
