A man from Queens was struck and killed by a westbound train in Rockville Centre on Wednesday night, MTA authorities said.

It was not clear why the man, 35, of Jamaica, was on the tracks when he was struck about 10:25 p.m. by the 9:41 p.m. Long Island Rail Road train from Babylon to Penn Station, authorities said, adding that the death appeared to be noncriminal.

The man had been working in Rockville Centre, authorities said Thursday. Other details were not immediately available as MTA police investigated.

The area has two sets of train tracks and the LIRR warned of delays in both directions with only one set of rails available for use. Trains were being delayed overnight by up to an hour, the railroad tweeted. On Thursday morning, schedules were back to normal.
