Long Island colleges vie for Hispanic students
As Hispanic students increase their presence on college campuses - going from 10 percent to 12 percent of students nationwide between 2006 and 2007 - Long Island colleges are reaching out to capture the demographic.
SUNY Old Westbury has bilingual "early awareness programs" in middle schools and ninth grade to help native Spanish speakers and their parents.
