Long Island speller ousted after extra 's'
WASHINGTON - One extra letter.
That's what did in Long Island speller Zachary Zagorski Thursday in the semifinals at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington.
The word: strepitoso.
Zagorski, 13, of Oceanside, added an extra s, spelling the word "strepitosso." And with that, he was out.
