A Uniondale man was arrested Monday and charged with the killing of a 19-month-old boy, Nassau County police said.
Lord Pardo, 26, of 327 Lenox Ave. was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Mason Robinson of New Cassel, police said in a news release.
Mason was pronounced dead at 2:57 p.m. Sunday at North Shore-LIJ Syosset Hospital, police said.VideoMan arrested on murder charge in toddler's death
"The investigation led to the arrest" of Pardo, the news release said.
The cause of death was not released and a police spokeswoman said Monday night that she could not provide any further details.
Pardo is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
Residents in Pardo's Uniondale neighborhood said police flooded the area Sunday and detectives asked if they had heard any crying or screaming coming from the home.
"I was here, but I didn't hear any crying," said one man, who has lived in the neighborhood for five years and declined to give his name. "I'm very sad -- a young baby. It's incredible, man."
Another neighbor said a detective knocked on her door late Sunday afternoon and asked if she had heard any noise coming from the Pardo home.
"He just came and said, 'Did you hear a noise or a scream like that?' and we said, 'No,' " said the woman, who also did not want to give her name.
