Man robbed at gunpoint in South Hempstead

A man sitting in his vehicle in South Hempstead was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday, Nassau County police said.

The man, 53, was sitting in his vehicle in the rear parking lot of a restaurant at 1084 Grand Ave. at 2:50 a.m. when a man with a black handgun approached him, police said.

The armed man pointed the gun at the victim while demanding cash and property, police said.

The victim surrendered cash, a watch and a bracelet before fleeing the vehicle in terror, police said. The armed man also left the scene, and the victim was not injured.

The man was described as wearing a black bandanna that covered his face, and dark clothing, police said.
