Man with wooden bat robs girl of handbag, cops say

Police are looking for a man who robbed a teen girl and threatened her with a wooden bat in Roosevelt on Tuesday evening.

Police said a 16-year-old girl was walking west on Elmwood Avenue about 6:45 p.m. when a man, described as 18 to 20 years old, grabbed her from behind and threw her to the ground.

The man held a wooden bat over the girl's head as he yanked her handbag from her shoulder, police said. He then got into the backseat of a black sport utility vehicle, which went east on Elmwood.
