Maternity style: Celeb tips for moms-to-be
Expectant moms can take their guidance from some celebrity-types-- and remember before you start bashing Kim Kardashian, it's all about how you carry.
Jessica Simpson wore this dress from her holiday line for her interview with Jimmy Kimmel in March (where she let it slip that her second baby was a boy). She's adding similar styles to her line.
If you have overall weight gain like Kim Kardashian, "highlight length, not width," says maternity designer Liz Lange, also suggesting color blocking, darker on the bottom. A single color also works, say Lange, and avoid "peplum tops at all costs."
Lange suggests flirty dresses and more-fitted maxis for Fergie's tiny frame. Remember, says Lange, for pregnant women, its all about "proportion, proportion, proportion and using color and the right scale of print and pattern."
Lange recommends that people carrying like Cruz go for tie-dye and large hits of bold color. "And show a little skin when you're pregnant," she says. "Your naked belly is not right for the streets of New York or L.A., but for many of us, we have cleavage for the first time ever -- show it off."

"You're like a little furnace when you're pregnant so layering is important," says Liz Lange. This paisley 3/4 sleeve cardigan ($59.50) does the trick. And don't forget dark denim -- "it takes you everywhere from the office to out to dinner," says Lange. Here, modern maternity straight leg jeans ($79.50); both available at Loft locations and loft.com
