Lanes on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Hempstead Town will be closed overnight for the next three or four weeks, state transportation officials said.
Starting Thursday night, two northbound or two southbound lanes will be off limits from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday between exits M3 Merchants Concourse and M4 Stewart Avenue, officials said. At times, lanes in both directions may be closed, the state said.
The closures allow preventive maintenance to be done on the Stewart Avenue Bridge over the parkway, officials said. It is one of 13 steel bridges being repainted under a $4.6 million project to maintain aging bridges, they said.
The work will depend on weather and may be postponed or prolonged, the state said. For real-time travel information, call 511 or go to 511NY.org, INFORMNY.com or INFORMNY.mobi for hand-held devices.
