A New Hyde Park man was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with a string of recent robberies after he stole a jar full of cash from a laundromat, Nassau police said.
Police said Michael P. Daddario, 26, walked into the Mr. Sudz Laundromat at 729 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park at about noon and stole the jar full of money, then fled on foot. Third Precinct officers, as well as Robbery Squad detectives, Bureau of Special Operations officers and Floral Park police responded and scoured the area searching for Daddario, who was eventually found on the roof of a Cherry Lane business, police said.
A further investigation by police found that Daddario was responsible for four other recent robberies and a grand larceny in the area. Police said they are:
June 29, 12:34 p.m.: Daddario entered a TD Bank at 372 Jericho Tpke. in Floral Park and demanded money from the teller, then fled with an unknown amount of cash.
July 7, 1:30 p.m.: Daddario robbed the Dairy Barn at 938 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park, demanding money from the clerk before fleeing with an unknown amount of cash.
July 9, 11:55 a.m.: Daddario robbed another Dairy Barn at 114 Franklin Ave. in Franklin Square, demanding money from the clerk and then fleeing with an unknown amount of cash.
July 9, 7:20 p.m.: Daddario walked into the Baskin-Robbins at 1956 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park and snatched a $100 bill from a victim's hand and fled.
July 10, 12:20 p.m.: Daddario went back to the New Hyde Park Dairy Barn he had previously robbed and stole money from the cash register after a brief scuffle with the store clerk.
Daddario, of 525 Beech St., is charged with four counts of third-degree robbery, grand larceny and petty larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
