Nassau police recovered the body of a missing Queens man in Reynolds Channel near the Atlantic Beach Bridge on Wednesday, police said.
A spokeswoman for the NYPD said the body of Dwayne Ballantine, 38, was found floating in the water near Atlantic Beach shortly before noon. Nassau police said the body had floated east from Rockaway Beach.
Ballantine had been missing since Sunday, when the NYPD spokeswoman said he "went into the water and couldn't swim."
Police unsuccessfully searched for Ballantine on Sunday and Monday, she said. His death was not considered suspicious, the spokeswoman added. Ballantine's body was taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiner's Office, Nassau police said. The investigation is ongoing, they said.
The Nassau County Marine Bureau, Aviation, the Town of Hempstead Bay Constables, the New York City Marine Bureau and the Atlantic Beach Fire Department Rescue responded to assist in the investigation.
