Parts of Meadowbrook State Parkway will be closed Monday and Tuesday in Hempstead Town for a ceremony marking the 11th anniversary of 9/11.
The town will hold a sunrise memorial at Point Lookout Town Park at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The southbound Meadowbrook State Parkway will be closed 10 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday between the Southern State Parkway and Merrick Road at Exit 9.
Anyone heading to Point Lookout before 6 a.m. should take Long Beach Road south and make a left onto West Park Avenue, which becomes Lido Boulevard and goes all the way to Point Lookout.
An alternative is to take the Wantagh State Parkway south to Ocean Parkway, following the signs for Loop Parkway, which goes to Point Lookout.
