Nassau County police arrested a Plainview man Friday for his alleged involvement in two assaults that occurred in April.

Detectives along with the Bureau of Special Operations officers arrested Lawrence Balter, 18, of 37 S. Oaks Blvd. at his home. Balter is charged with second-degree assault and was scheduled for arraignment on Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Balter was driving with friends on Broadway in Bethpage on April 6 at 10:15 p.m. when they approached a 16-year-old male who was walking home, detectives said.

Balter, along with two or three unidentified occupants, exited the vehicle. He slammed the victim to the ground and punched him in the face, detectives said. He then re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene, according to detectives. The victim continued to his home and called police.

During the investigation, police said they determined Balter was also involved in as assault that occurred on April 5 at 9:40 p.m. in Glen Cove.

He will also be arraigned in Glen Cove City Court on Saturday on charges of third-degree assault and obstruction of breathing.
