Police: Cabbie robbed at knifepoint

Nassau County police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a cabdriver at knifepoint in North Lawrence on Friday afternoon.

The driver, 44 years old and an employee of Dominican Cab Service, picked up a man in Corona, Queens, and drove him to Washington Place, where the suspect produced a steak knife and demanded the driver's money, police said.

Detectives are looking for the suspect, who fled on foot with an unknown amount of cash, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police said the suspect was described as a male, about 40 to 45 years old, 5-foot-7, heavy build, shaved head and wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the robbery to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
