A Hicksville convenience store clerk trapped a robber inside the store Friday morning despite being stabbed, Nassau police said.

Police said Syaleek Anderson, 19, entered American Mini Mart at 99 Railroad Plaza about 8:30 a.m. and stabbed the male clerk in the back.

As Anderson was stuffing money from the cash register into a bag, the 49-year-old victim managed to run outside and lock the front door, police said.

When officers arrived, Anderson resisted arrest by "flailing his arms and kicking his feet," police said. A knife was recovered at the scene.

The clerk was taken to a hospital where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

Anderson, of Uniondale, is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, resisting arrest and other crimes. He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
