A man rescued from a roadside storm drain was transported to a hospital for evaluation as investigators attempt to determine how he wound up in the sewer in North Valley Stream.

The incident was reported in a 911 call at 10:22 a.m., Nassau County police saying the caller said they'd heard the still-unidentified man yelling for help.

Officers from the Fifth Precinct and the Emergency Services Unit, as well as EMTs and volunteers from the Malverne Fire Department, all responded to the scene near Corona Avenue and Higbie Street.

Police said the victim was hoisted from the drain, then transported to Franklin Hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

The man was not seriously injured.

The man "was not in the immediate storm drain by the curb, but in a pipe underneath the street," Malverne Fire Chief James Lang told News 12 Long Island.
