Police: Man advertised heroin sale online

A Bellport man who advertised the sale of heroin on the Internet site backpage.com was arrested on drug charges Tuesday in an undercover sting by Nassau County's Narcotics / Vice Bureau, police said.

Obadiah Y. Johnson, 28, of 130 New Jersey Ave., was arrested in Plainview at about 8:50 p.m. after Narcotics / Vice Bureau detectives and Garden City police arranged an undercover operation, police said.

Detectives arranged to meet Johnson at a location on Sunnyside Boulevard, and he was arrested, police said. Police said they recovered 20 bags of heroin and an undetermined amount of cash.

Johnson is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
