Nassau County police are searching for two men who beat a 44-year-old man in New Cassel on Friday night with a baseball bat.

The victim was walking eastbound on Broadway at 6:30 p.m. when the two suspects began beating him from behind with the bat and their fists, police said. The victim pushed his attackers away and escaped when they attempted to rifle through his pockets.

The suspects then fled northbound on Brook Street without any proceeds. The victim suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The first suspect is described as roughly 20-year-old, wearing all black clothing and white sneakers. The second suspect, who was carrying the bat, is described as about 20 years old, wearing camouflage pants and black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about this attack can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
