Police: Teen punched, phone stolen in NCC lot

A man punched a teenager in the face and stole her cellphone as she walked across a parking lot of a college in East Garden City on Thursday afternoon, Nassau County police said.

The victim, 18, was walking in the rear parking lot of Nassau Community College at 1 Education Dr. at noon when an unknown man punched her in the face and took her cellphone from her left shirt pocket, police said.

The suspect then ran south through the parking lot. He was described as 25 years old, with a stocky build, short hair, with facial hair on his chin, and wearing black jeans, a black jacket and red sneakers.

The victim had a contusion on her face, but refused medical treatment, police said.
