Potentially strong thunderstorms in Long Island's forecast
Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are likely in the metropolitan area into Friday evening, the National Weather Service said.
The service issued a hazardous weather outlook statement early Friday, warning the main threat of those storms will be damaging winds, hail and, potentially, tornadoes.
