A 92-year-old Bethpage man who believed he was investing in high-end vehicles being imported into the country instead was robbed of $40,000 by a 20-year-old Queens man, police said.

Nassau County police said the scheme was unraveled this week when a court-appointed guardian uncovered the thefts.

Ackeem R. Baker, of 116-25 Merrick Blvd., Jamaica, Queens, was arrested Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. and charged with third-degree grand larceny, second-degree attempted grand larceny and first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, Nassau County police said.

He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said that Baker, who was arrested in front of the Bethpage man's home, convinced the victim to invest money in his business "purchasing high-end vehicles that were being imported into the country."

But, police said, there were no vehicles.

Police said some proceeds were recovered, but did not immediately say how much.
