Race closes roads early Sunday in Nassau

Motorists should expect road closures and significant travel delays in and around Eisenhower Park and the Nassau Hub beginning early Sunday for the third annual Diva's Half Marathon.

The race, part of the Women's National Running Series, will begin at 8 a.m. in the East Meadow park and end in the same location. The event is the fourth in a series of five half marathons that take place in New York, California, South Carolina, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

In 2011, 2,600 runners finished the half marathon while another 370 finished the Girls 5k run. At the end of the half marathon, participants will get a flute of Champagne, a red rose and medal.

The road closures include:

Southbound Park Boulevard between Merrick Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike, closed from 3 to 10:30 a.m.

Northbound Park Boulevard between Hempstead Turnpike and Merrick Avenue, closed from 7:15 to 8:45 a.m.

Merrick Avenue between Hempstead Turnpike and Stewart Avenue, closed from 7:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Charles Lindberg Boulevard, closed from 7:30 to 10:15 a.m.

Northbound Merrick Avenue between Stewart Avenue and Old Country Road, closed from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Eastbound Old Country Road between Merrick Avenue and Salisbury Park Drive, closed from 7:30 to 11:15 a.m.

Salisbury Park Drive between Old Country Road and Carman Avenue; closed from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Carman Avenue between Salisbury Park Drive and East Meadow High School, closed from 7:30 to 11:45 a.m.
