Political wives are thinking pink
Talk about shocking pink. Imagine the meeting of Michelle Obama and Ann Romney at last night’s presidential debate at Hofstra University. First the shock: they were wearing identical colors. Then the pink: Fuchsia, neon, bold and kind of beautiful.
Obama wore Michael Kors’ boucle crepe seamed princess sheath and matching jacket accessorized with a single strand of pearls. Romney opted for a tweedy textured dress that she topped with a printed red and beige shawl and a double strand of glassy beads.
The pundits, us included, believe that both women were giving a nod to Breast Cancer Awareness month. In fact, earlier in the day an Obama aide visited American Cancer Society headquarters in Hauppauge to pick up lapel pins though none were spotted on the candidates, their wives or entourages. And Romney is a breast cancer survivor, a subject she has spoken openly about.
As for the guys, it was business-suit-as-usual though Mitt Romney opted for a blue and white striped tie – not the traditional Republican red – and President Obama went for the season’s hottest color – oxblood. We didn’t love it.
