Skateboarding teen assaulted, robbed, cops say

A teenager was assaulted and robbed as he rode his skateboard in Plainview on Saturday afternoon, Nassau County police said.

Police said the victim, 15, was skating at 1425 Old Country Road at 3:30 p.m. when three suspects drove up to him in a white Ford van with old-style Statue of Liberty state license plates.

The suspects got out of the car and demanded money from the victim, police said. When the victim refused, one of the suspects punched the boy on the left side of his face, according to police. That suspect was described as 20 years old, 6-1 and 170 pounds, with black hair and wearing a black shirt.

Another suspect, described as 17 years old, 5-8 and 140 pounds and wearing a white shirt, then showed the victim a knife and demanded all the victim's property, police said. The boy gave the suspects an iPhone, two gold necklaces and cash, after which the three got back into the van and drove east on Old Country Road.

The third suspect was described as 17 years old, 5-9 and 140 pounds, and wearing a white shirt.

Police said the victim then met his mother in a nearby park and called police, but refused medical attention at the scene.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. Callers will be kept anonymous.
