The Nassau County SPCA said Friday it is offering a $1,500 reward for information in the case of an 8-week-old kitten that had to be euthanized after being found shot with pellet gun.

The animal protection nonprofit said in a news release the kitten was trapped last Friday after a Massapequa resident reported it injured.

A veterinarian examined the kitten and discovered the injuries were caused by a pellet gun, the SPCA said in its release.

Because of the severity of the injuries, the kitten was "humanely euthanized," the release said.

The group said anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible is eligible for the reward.

Anyone with information can call 516-843-7722, email crueltystoppers@ncspca.us or complete an online form at nassaucountyspca.org.
