Three motorcyclists traveling "at a high rate of speed" up the Wantagh State Parkway were injured -- one of them critically -- when they crashed early Thursday as they entered the exit ramp to the westbound Northern State Parkway in Westbury, State Police said.
In the crash just before 1 a.m., the first motorcycle, a 2012 Kawasaki, failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and its operator was ejected, police said. The second motorcycle, a 2010 BMW, also failed to negotiate the curve and its rider was ejected; then the third motorcycle, a 2007 Yamaha, hit the operator of the BMW and its driver was also ejected, police said.
The operator of the Yamaha, Jerry Delacruz, 20, of Uniondale, was treated for head trauma at Nassau University Medical Center and is in critical condition, police said.
The operator of the Kawasaki, Abbas Fakharikahaki, 33, of Brooklyn, was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital and was treated for a ruptured spleen, police said.
The operator of the BMW, Maciej Wasek, 38, also of Brooklyn, was taken to NUMC, where he was being treated for a broken leg, police said.
Any witnesses to the accident are asked to call the State Police at 631-756-3300.
All calls will remain confidential.
