Cops: Merrick bank robbery suspect sought

Nassau County police are searching for a man who robbed the Capital One Bank on Merrick Road in Merrick on Friday morning.

The suspect, police said, entered the bank shortly after 10 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash. Detectives said the suspect displayed a black handgun.

The teller complied and the man fled the bank on foot heading north through the parking lot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The bank was occupied by four employees at the time of the robbery; none were injured.

The suspect was described at about 30 years old and 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a tan button-down long-sleeve shirt, a black doo-rag, white sneakers and black sunglasses.
