Suspect sought in Walmart shoplifting

Nassau County police are searching for a man who they say took headphones and a GPS system from a Uniondale Walmart on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a man went to the Walmart at 1123 Jerusalem Ave. just after noon on Saturday and took a pair of Beats headphones and a TomTom GPS from the shelves.

The man tried to leave the store, but store security officers stopped him, police said. The man then began struggling with the officers, and ultimately was able to get away with the GPS unit, fleeing west on foot toward Jerusalem Avenue, police said.

The suspect left behind his jacket and T-shirt, which came off during the struggle, along with the headphones, police said.

No one was injured.

The man was described as 5-feet-6 and about 220 pounds He was wearing a dark jacket, white T-shirt and gray sweatpants.
