Nassau County police are looking for four masked men who stole cash and cellphones from a Roosevelt home Monday after tying up its occupants and burning one with an iron, Nassau County police said.

The masked men attacked the first of the five people at the home on Anna Avenue when he was smoking a cigarette outside at about 11:30 p.m., police said.

After tying the victim's hands and feet and placing him face down in a van, three of the men returned to the home and bound a woman, 49, and a man, 50, who were sleeping in a downstairs bedroom, according to police.

The men also struck the male victim in the head with a handgun, police said.

Two others asleep in an upstairs bedroom -- a woman, 21, and a man, 43, also were tied up, and again the man was struck in the head with a handgun, police said.

The 43-year-old man then was dragged to the basement, where he was burned on his shoulder and buttocks as the assailants demanded cash. He also was stabbed in the left leg, police said.

After making off with an unspecified amount of cash and the phones, the suspects pushed their first victim out of the van and drove off in an unknown direction, police said.

The man who was burned and stabbed was taken to a nearby hospital; all others refused medical attention at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said the attack is under investigation and could offer no specific reason the home was targeted.
