One of the two cars, a Pontiac Bonneville, then crashed into a tree -- trapping the driver. Police said Emergency Services Unit officers responded.

Those ESU officers, along with volunteers from the Plainview Fire Department, freed the driver, who was then taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said there was no criminality suspected.

The identities of the drivers were not released by police.
