A Uniondale woman was arrested Saturday morning and charged with assault after she attacked a police officer and kicked another while in custody at an East Meadow hospital, Nassau police said.

Sinaia Jackson, 18, was at Nassau University Medical Center being medically cleared after having been arrested earlier on Saturday for harassment and resisting arrest when police said she became violent.

Jackson began kicking and biting the officer assigned to her, police said. The officer received a cut to his right hand and head trauma, while a second officer received a kick in the chest as he subdued Jackson, police said.

Jackson was arrested again at 10 a.m. and faced a total of four charges: second-degree assault, second-degree harassment, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana for a marijuana joint that police said was in her pocket.

Jackson was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead and was conditionally released to probation. She is due back in court on Sept. 17.
