Universities protest Bud Light cans in school colors

Stony Brook University president Samuel Stanley has joined some 25 other college presidents in objecting to a new marketing campaign by Budweiser that features Bud Light cans in university team colors. The presidents say the school-colors “Team Pride” campaign — the beer is being sold at outlets near campuses, e.g., purple-and-gold cans near Louisiana State University — will contribute to underage and binge drinking and will leave customers with the impression the schools are endorsing Budweiser. Stanley, also a medical doctor, called the campaign “categorically unacceptable” in a letter to Anheuser-Busch.
