Hillary wishes Haiti happy birthday from her hospital bed; expected to be released soon
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is being treated with blood thinners at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital to dissolve a rare, life-threatening blood clot that lodged near her brain, is apparently working from her hospital bed.
Clinton, 65, issued a statement on New Year's Eve wishing Haiti a happy 209th Independence Day on Jan. 1 and praising the Haitian people for prevailing over challenges "even in the most difficult circumstances," according to press reports.
Clinton, who was diagnosed Sunday with cerebral venous thrombosis after suffering a debilitating bout of flu, dehydration, and a concussion after fainting and hitting her head, is expected to be released after physicians establish the proper dosage of anticoagulants.
While Clinton is expected to make a full recovery, medical experts have postulated that she may have to remain on some type of medication to prevent a recurrence.
