A toy gun sparked a full lockdown of a Bronx school Tuesday morning after teachers overheard students talking about a "weapon," officials said.

A 12-year-old student at P.S. 4 brought a Nerf gun to the K-8 school on Fulton Avenue and told a classmate he was carrying a gun, which a teacher overheard and told the school administration, according to published reports.

The school was quickly shut down around 8:15 a.m., when authorities responded and did a sweep of the building, giving the all clear a short while later.

"There was a rumor that a student in one of the schools on the campus came to school with a gun," the Department of Education said. "The principal called a lockdown and police are on the scene."

No charges will be brought against the student, but he may face disciplinary action at school, reports said.
