A fire early Sunday morning at a Valley Stream dry cleaning business was an act of arson, Nassau County police said on Sunday.
Police said they received a 911 call at 4:55 a.m. Sunday reporting smoke near Merrick Road and Central Avenue in Valley Stream.
When officers arrived, they found Purr-Fect Cleaners at 38 S. Central Ave. in flames.
No one was injured in the fire, which was extinguished by the Valley Stream Fire Department, police said.
But the Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad, which conducted an investigation, later determined the fire was arson.
Police said the investigation is continuing, and asked anyone with information about the case to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. Callers will be kept anonymous.
