Violinist Kevin Yu, a Herricks High School senior, will embark on an international tour this summer as the only Long Island student chosen for the 2013 National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. Nationwide, 120 teen musicians, were accepted for the orchestra's inaugural season.
"I never expected to get in," said Yu, 17. "Violin is a pretty competitive instrument."
