Williston Park residents who were denied zoning permits for porches may soon be able to construct them.
The village board will be continuing a public hearing held on Dec. 14 on January 19 to discuss adopting a new local law that would redefine front yard porch requirements.
Previously, homeowners were only permitted to have covered “porticos” no more than seven feet wide that extended up to four feet from their houses. The new legislation would allow one-story open or covered porches that could extend up to six feet from the house. In addition, porches would have to be at least 10 feet away from the street line.
The public hearing will take place at 8 p.m. at village hall, at 494 Willis Avenue, Williston Park.
