Woodmere woman put in chokehold and robbed, police say

Police are looking for a suspect who put a 69-year-old woman in a chokehold before robbing her in her Woodmere home.

Nassau police said the woman was entering her Forest Avenue home through the garage on Friday at 2:12 p.m. when a stranger came from behind and put her in a chokehold, then demanded her jewelry and wallet.

The woman complied and the suspect, who police said was possibly wearing a hooded shirt, fled on foot. The woman was not hurt, police said.
