Reaction of New York Members of Congress to shootings of police in Dallas, and police-involved shootings of civilians in Louisiana and Minnesota:

Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford): “This latest brutal attack should be a vivid wake-up call and reminder of how dangerous a cop’s job is. Our men and women in Blue put their lives on the line for us every day and are too often subject to criticism and second guessing.”

Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-St. Albans): “The murders of innocent men in Minnesota and Louisiana are truly appalling. The senseless murder of Dallas police officers during a nonviolent protest is utterly horrific. “We have got to work together, police and civilians, to discourage and stamp out violence in America.”

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-Shirley): “Police officers and first responders merit our unwavering appreciation as loyal Americans, and we must stand with them. There should be no divide between police and the citizens that they serve.”

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.): “My heart is with the Dallas Police Department, the five officers who died trying to protect the public and their families. These atrocities and injustices — all kinds — must be rooted out, condemned and ultimately stopped.”
