Newsday was a winner and was named a finalist in two other categories at the International News Media Association Global Media competition held in Manhattan Tuesday night.

Newsday won the “best idea to grow digital readership” award for its Battle of the Bands project.

The Islandwide contest asked musicians to upload a video and talk about their bands. Long Islanders watched the videos and voted for their favorites, with the top 10 vote-getters advancing to a panel of judges, who then crowned the winner.
