STRATFORD - Stratford's mayor has proposed a plan to honor Victoria Soto, a teacher killed last month in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

John Harkins says he wants to rename Honeyspot Elementary School in her memory. Soto, who grew up in Stratford, was murdered while shielding her students from gunfire. Harkins says he has spoken to her family about the idea, which may include a statue.

Residents have also proposed renaming the street in front of Stratford High School in her honor.
